Samobor

Samobor is a lovely old town with a beautiful old square with many nice terraces. Loved by many because of the "cremeschnitte". It is very near to Zagreb.

Here are some tips to enjoy a day in and around Samobor.

Mlin iz Bajke
If you take the road to Bregana  you will see the sign “Mlin iz Bajke” after about two kilometres. The mill has been completely restored and you can also come here for ecological flour. Mainly focused on parties but the location is nice for a visit.

Old mine in Rude
In the village of Rude you can visit a former mine that is open to the public. For up-to-date information and opening times, please check the tourist information on the square in Samobor.

Watchtower with great views on Samobor

Take a walk in the park to the old castle ruin of Samobor:
Park your car (paid) at hotel Lavica and walk along the narrow river towards the castle.

Another great view on Samobor from the Molvice hill
Park your car at Milecki and just cross the road. Best view around sunrise or sunset.

Mount Okic
The area around this mountain is very beautiful. In weekends you can have a coffee or soup at the mountain hut. Parking places available. Try Klake as another great place for taking pictures.

The old monastery of Kotari
The road to this place is a beautiful drive with great views.

Mount Japetic
The highest mountain of the Samoborske Gorje. Moderate climb. There is a restaurant at the top (serves in weekends only)

Mount Ostrc
Semi moderate climb to the top with fantastic views.

Places for eating:

  • Lavica hotel
(best and most extensive choice in a nice ambience, on weekends often full)
  • Kod Spilje
(at the town of Ostrucevec. Great food but at a slightly higher price. Beautiful location.)
  • Slava Gora
(beautiful location, somewhat pricey, steep road up)
